EAL students are learning English as a second, third or maybe even fourth language. Students are screened at admissions and referred for an English Proficiency assessment. English language learners will learn language and content at AAM in an inclusive environment with accommodations based on their proficiency level.  Basic Interpersonal Communication Skills (BICS ) can take 1-2 years  to acquire, whereas  complete Cognitive Academic Language Proficiency  (CALPS) can take up to 7 years or more depending on other factors.
