Which curriculum does AAM offer:

We provide the American Curriculum based on US Common Core standards.

AAM is co-educational in Pre-KG to KG 2 and an all-girls school from Grade 1 to 12.


What are the school days and timings?

School days in the United Arab Emirates run from Sundays to Thursdays.

Early Years: 7.50am to 2.15pm
Elementary: 7.50am to 3.10pm
Middle School: 7.50am to 3.10pm
High School: 7.50am to 3.10pm

What is the length of the school year?

The school year starts in late August/early September and ends at the end of June.

Does AAM offer school transportation?

Al-Mizhar American Academy contracts with an outsourced company for transportaion, Arab Falcon Bus Rental LLC, which provides buses to different commutes covering numerous neighbourhoods in Dubai and Dubai/Sharjah borders. All vehicles used by Arab Falcon follow the strictest Road & Transport Authority (RTA) safety standards and guidelines. All bus drivers are highly experienced and authorised and trained by the RTA. A bus helper/’nanny’ will travel with each vehicle.

All buses feature CCTV cameras, a Tracking System and a Safety for the purposes of our students’ safety and attendance.

How does the parking and drop-off/pick up work?

As per RTA regulations, all parking, drop-off and pick up takes place inside the school premises.

Where is the school located?

AAM is centrally located in the Mirdif Area of Dubai, Al-Mizhar 1, Corner 11A and 4A Street, close to Arabian Centre and the Union Co-Op/Al Etihad Mall. Taaleem’s Uptown School is only a 10-minute drive from AAM. Click here for the location map.

What about Extra-curricular Activities (ECAs)?

Our students have access to a broad range of activities from sports to academic interests and a variety of clubs and community initiatives.

Does AAM cater for exceptional children?
Yes, we provide for gifted children and those requiring learning support
Do AAM students wear uniforms?

Yes, our students have to wear a uniform. Further details can be found here.

Does AAM have dining facilities?
At AAM we believe in a healthy life style and our ‘Tuck Shop Café’ provides our students with delicious healthy vegetarian and non-vegetarian food options and various beverages. Alternatively, our students may bring their own lunchboxes. Fizzy drinks or foods containing nuts or pork are not be allowed

Can we join the school during a running school year?

Subject to KHDA regulations and guidelines, we are able to admit students throughout the year if places are available. We will however only be able to offer places that start within the dates listed below:

Enrolling during the Academic Year:

  • If transferring from an American curriculum within Dubai the process has to be completed by February 3rd of the current academic year
  • If transferring from a curriculum other than an American one the process has to be completed by November 1st of the current academic year.
  • If transferring from an American curriculum outside of Dubai the process has be completed by May 1st of the current academic year.
Any exceptional circumstances are referred to the Knowledge and Human Development Authority
Does AAM offer after-school care?
Not in the traditional sense but our students can take part in Extra-Curricular Activities (ECA) offered at AAM
What is the level of qualifications the teachers are required to have accomplished.

Everyone of our teachers has an internationally recognised teaching qualification, with a minimum of at least two years qualified teaching experience. All teachers need to be approved by the KHDA (Knowledge and Human Development Authority). They are required to have completed 12 years of Primary and Secondary education and they must hold a degree (B.Ed.) or Degree and Teaching Certificate or equivalent (e.g. BA / BSc. + PGCE).

Does the school provide English as a second language?

We are offering ‘English as Additional Language’ (EAL) support to students whose mother tongue is not English.

What languages do you offer?
English is the language of instruction and all students have the opportunity to study different modern foreign languages including Arabic
Does AAM feature a clinic?

AAM provides a Health Centre with a full-time nurse and a part-time doctor. Parents are required to complete a Student Medical Form prior to admission that they will need to update annually to ensure that AAM can provide the appropriate medical support as and when required.

Where do the teachers come from?

The majority of our highly trained and qualified teachers is from North America in the US. They all have the requirements as per KHDA guidelines. Administrative staff is international and hired locally and internationally.
