Physical Education is considered as a universal language that brings people together and should be an aspect of the curriculum that is enjoyed by all. Skills such as team work, tolerance, self-confidence and a sense of achievement are qualities learnt and developed within our physical education programme.

At American Academy For Girls we follow the Kansas Model Curriculum Standards for Physical Education. The curriculum is designed to develop motor skills, sports skills, and physical fitness as well as to enhance the mental, social and emotional skills of our students.

Students can be active and learn necessary skills, knowledge and attitude that leads to physically active lifestyles and can be transferred across the subjects.

Sport for All

Our PE departments ethos is every student should be provided with the opportunity to achieve their potential.

We aim to ensure that students of all abilities are encouraged to be the best they can possible be.

AAG Eagles

At American Academy For Girls we want to offer our students the opportunity to extend their interests and talents beyond the classroom and therefore offer a broad extra-curriculum programme.

The major sports at AAG are Football and Basketball where we have been successful over the years in the DASSA leagues. We also field competitive teams in Netball, Rounders, Volleyball and Rugby as well as leagues for determination.

All extra-curriculum clubs and teams are run by our highly-qualified PE team and AAG staff.

All students are welcome to attend with an inclusive environment for all.

Swimming

Swimming is a compulsory part of our PE curriculum in Pre-KG through to Grade 7 to ensure students become confident and safe around water. AAG works in partnership with WAVES Swim Academy to deliver high-quality swim lessons to our students during lessons along with our qualified PE team. WAVES Swim Academy was established in 2011 and has an outstanding reputation around Dubai, assisting hundreds of children learning to swim and coached swimmers who compete in national championships.

Our aim is to get students to a level where they can:

  • Perform safe self-rescue in different water based situations
  • Swim competently, confidently and proficiently over a distance of at least 25 metres
  • Use a range of strokes effectively, for examples, front crawl, backstroke and breaststroke

WAVES Swim Academy also provide extra-curriculum opportunities for our students, more information can be found on their website: http://www.wavesacademy.com/index.html
