Common Sense Media (CSM) is a non-profit organization that provides education and advocacy to families to promote safe technology and media for children. It offers educational programs for schools and other organizations to use with students and parents.
The goal of these resources is to help young people learn how to think critically, behave safely, and participate responsibly in today's ever-changing digital media world. More than 75,000 schools and over 158,000 educators around the world are using these resources.
Al-Mizhar American Academy became a Common Sense Digital Citizenship Certified School in 2015/16. Several AAG Teachers hold the status of Common Sense Digital Certified Educators.
Our Head of IT Integration has been awarded the status of Common Sense Media Ambassador.
The school is currently taking a whole-community approach to preparing its students to use the immense power of digital media to explore, create, connect, and learn. This initiative is aimed at limiting the risks that exist in the online world, such as plagiarism, loss of privacy, and cyberbullying.
In particular, AAG has introduced Digital Literacy in the curriculum and the aim is to harness technology with free research-based classroom tools for learning and life. The K-12 Digital Citizenship Curriculum teaches our students how to make safe, smart, and ethical decisions in the digital world.
